Your Partner in Print Finishing
The Bourg Binder BB3102 is a fully automated perfect binding system aimed at medium-run and short-run production environments. The BB3102 combines the proven BB3002 driven at constant maximum speed (400 books/hour) with the new Bourg Book Loader (BBL), making it easy to produce a wide variety of bound softcover books, from traditional or digital print streams, with minimal operator intervention.
In less than six minutes, the operator can load up to 120 book blocks into the BBL, and perform other tasks – such as packing books that have just been produced – while the BB3102 operates unattended for up to 25 minutes.
The BB3102 offers the capability to use EVA/hot melt or PUR-C adhesive systems depending on the customers’ needs.
Existing BB3002 customers will be happy to know that they can upgrade their machine by retrofitting the Bourg Book Loader (BBL) to create the BB3102 and maximise their productivity (please contact a C.P. Bourg sales representative for feasibility).
The Bourg Booklet Maker ExPress (BM-e Express) is the world’s first In-Line booklet making solution tailored to HP Indigo 5500, 5600 and 7000 Series Digital Presses.
This solution is based on the award-winning Bourg Booklet Maker (BM-e) and Bourg Bleed Crease Module (BCM-e) engineered to operate seamlessly with the right-to-left paper path and Duplex 2-up formats of HP Indigo presses.
The BM-e ExPress delivers fast turnaround times and effortless, set-secure production of booklets, reports and other confidential documents for transaction processing applications in medical, education and financial services and other finished products with unparalleled quality while improving finishing speed, efficiency and flexibility.
Aimed at stitch-fold-trim finishing production in digital on-demand and web-to-print environments, the BM-e ExPress is able to operate “24/7” at the full-rated speed of the HP Indigo 5500, 5600 and 7000 Series Digital Press (5000 booklets/hour). Since the booklet maker is fully integrated, automated and synchronized with the HP Indigo Press, it can produce ultra-short run jobs quickly with superb quality and guaranteed set integrity, without operator intervention.
Be the best positioned in the market
The BB3102 makes it possible for publishers, commercials, in-plant printers and specialty binders to address today’s often complex and unpredictable workflows with a versatile system that replaces the inconsistency of manually-guided medium and short-run book production with predictability and high productivity.
Not only does the BB3102 have a high production speed with up to 650 cycles per hour (400 books/hour), but the major advantage is that the operator can leave the system unattended for up to 25 minutes of non-stop production, while he/she focuses on other tasks. The machine runs at constant maximum speed and automatically adapts to the thickness of each job. The BB3102 processes various book thicknesses from 1 to 60 mm (0.04 to 2.36 in), and paper sizes from 100 x 100 mm (3.93 x 3.93 in) to 385 x 380 mm (15.15 x 14.96 in).
Available in EVA/hot melt and/or PUR glue
Depending on the job you need to perform, C.P. Bourg enables you to have the machine that responds to your needs. You can either produce the entire book in PUR or EVA/hot melt.
The PUR adhesive system is the most durable and flexible book binding glue available. It is ideal to produce softcover books, and on-demand full-color print materials such as photo books.
The EVA/hot melt adhesive is faster and cheaper than PUR but is less durable, less flexible. This is why the EVA/hot melt gluing system is ideal to produce on-demand handouts, medical prescription books and a wide variety of books for the best ROI.
Job tracking and trimming of books without operator intervention
Options to the BB3102 include connection to a trimmer CMT-130 or CMT-330C, and a fully integrated barcode solution that enables job tracking and job integrity check to maximize productivity and integrity. This is especially useful in “book runs of one” where matching cover to content is critical. A second optional barcode system enables automatic job set up for the CMT-330C. It enables jobs to be cut to the right format without manual work.
Adding the barcode and trimmer options enables the BB3102 system to produce books – from book blocks to final, trimmed output stacked and ready for dispatch – entirely without operator intervention.
The BM-e ExPress is designed to be connected In-Line to HP Indigo 5500, 5600 and 7000 Series Digital presses and generate unparalleled quality and speed on-demand booklets.
This solution offers various print finishing possibilities for HP Indigo users.
Highest quality and speed booklet production
Working In-Line with the HP Indigo 5500, 5600 and 7000 Series Digital press, the BM-e ExPress produces up to a maximum speed of 5000 booklets/hour.
The BM-e ExPress is able to stitch fold trim up to 30 sheets, stitches up to 55 sheets, and folds up to 120 pages booklets (30 sheets) without marking, scuffing or scratching.
The maximum trimming distance is 25 mm (0.98 in). Booklets produced can therefore be of an extremely small size.
As the book press is integrated in the folder, booklets are systematically more flat. The end-result is more aesthetically-pleasing.
Taking finishing to the “Next Level” of automation and productivity
Like the others C.P. Bourg booklet makers, the possibility of automatically measuring the thickness of each booklet in operation is a standard in our equipment. This enables you to have zero waste and increases your productivity.
Thanks to the integrated BCM-e, the BM-e ExPress also includes an advanced servo motor scoring cylinder technology. A unique feature to C.P. Bourg creases sheets on the fly as they pass through the machine, without impeding productivity. An oversized waste bin makes it possible for the BM-e ExPress to run up to four hours before being emptied on the fly as the machine continues production. Finally, a bypass function affords the BM-e ExPress the flexibility to crease without trimming, or to allow sheets to pass through with no action taken.
